Moby
Weekday Mornings 6-10am
E-mail Moby
The Moby in the Morning radio program has always featured strong listener interaction, parody songs and visits from recording artists all tied together with Moby's genuine and humorous approach to events of the day and his patented exclamation, Yeah, Baby!
Born in Crossville, Tennessee, at the age of 15, he landed his first radio job on WCSV/AM in Crossville. Moby attended Belmont College in Nashville with the dream of becoming a H.S. band director. But radio was under his skin, so he quit and went back to Crossville and got a job at WAEW for 2 years. Then to Columbia, Tennessee and finally to Nashville to work for two stations in Nashville, one of which was WAMB ,a big band station where he made $100 a week. He moved to the FM band in 1974 at WKDA-FM, which became WKDF, then to WKQB (WLAC FM) in Nashville. The first out of Tennessee move came at 98 ROCK in Tampa.
Moby moved to Houston in 1981, and worked for KSRR-FM (97 Rock) in Houston where he was number 1 for 5 years. In 86 KEGL-FM in Dallas for just under 2 years.. He retuned to Houston & KLOL in 1988 and then moved to Atlanta to join WKHX in Atlanta in 1991. This was his first dive in country music (where he had really always belonged). Within a year, he hosted the top rated country morning show in the market. He was Billboard country DJ of the year for 5 consecutive years, and won the ACM DJ of the year award.
Moby loves community service projects and lends his talents to sports arenas. He has also sung the National Anthem on many occasions for the Atlanta Braves and Hawks games. He has performed the National Anthem for the NFL, NBA, NHL, NASCAR, and major league baseball. Plus many military events.
