"Bayou Maharajah" explores the life and music of New Orleans piano legend James Booker. Illustrated with never-before-seen concert footage, rare personal photos and exclusive interviews, the film paints a portrait of this overlooked genius.Part of UGA’s Spotlight on the Arts Festival. The documentary was directed by UGA alum Lily Keber and produced by Nate Kohn, professor of telecommunication arts in the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication and associate director of the Peabody Awards. Both will attend the premiere to introduce the film and participate in an audience question and answer session after the screening.
