Tickets on sale now for our 2013 Halloween Bash featuring Unknown Hinson! A review of his 2012 Halloween Show in Nashville stated: “It doesn't get much more Halloween than having a black guitar with bat inlay fret markers going up and down the neck endorsed and Signed by a 500 year old undead vampire monster guitar picker – Unknown Hinson!” We want you to come join us for a night with one of the most unbelievably talented and unique acts to ever grace our stage. Unknown Hinson is half musician, half Vampire Visionary, and if you were looking for the best Halloween event in the country – you have come to the right place.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m. sharp! Looking somewhat like Dracula's nasty little brother who spent some hard years drinking and working as a carnival barker for a second-rate freak show, Unknown Hinson translates that vibe to his style of country and western-tinged psychobilly. The band is now touring nationwide, wowing audiences with outrageous and campy, white-trash persona and freewheeling, sleazy tone.
Hinson’s most recent CD release, "Live and Undead", melds weepy twang, searing guitar riffs and lyrics that speak of love-gone-bad. Recorded at a sold-out show, an enthusiastic honky tonk crowd sings along with the King on every song.
Raucous, theatrical and over-the-top, Unknown Hinson isn’t just for the trailer park set anymore!
Unknown is gaining notoriety in the 18-34 demographic as the voice of lead character "Early Cuyler" in the popular show from Cartoon Network - "The Squidbillies". Hagood began writing music at the age of 16 and has been performing as a solo act in the Athens bar scene since early 2000. Hagood has been a member of several local bands including: Ray Ray and the Hog Mountain Boys, fronted Fester Hagood’s King Cotton, and performed as a member of local songstress Caroline Monroe’s band from 2006-2008. A seasoned performer and prolific songwriter, Hagood has a catalogue of over 300 original songs, released his first album The Gypsy in 2005, and wrote and produced Caroline Monroe’s 2007 album Ghost Town. Hagood has collaborated with a number of different Athens area musicians at various different capacities over the years and is celebrating the release of his second album Live from Rock Bottom.
Live from Rock Bottom was originally conceived as a collaborative effort between Hagood and Levi Lowrey in 2008, but when Lowrey was signed to Zac Brown’s label, Southern Ground, Hagood decided to take his contributions from the project and release the album as a solo effort. Rock Bottom was recorded at Full Moon Studios with help from the likes of local musicians: Adam Payne, Betsy Franck, Adam Poulin, Scotty Nicholson, “Little Ty” Manning and “Big Don” Spurlin. With a sound and feel that is reminiscent of an amalgamation of Tom Petty, Townes Van Zandt, and The Drive-By Truckers; Live from Rock Bottom showcases Hagood’s growth as a songwriter and musician in the seven years following the release of The Gypsy and is the crowning achievement of this local musician’s young career.
Live from Rock Bottom is available now at www. Athensmusic.net and Jittery Joe’s. To learn more about Fester, his music and upcoming show dates, check out his webpage at www.reverbnation.com/festerhagood or hit him up on Facebook. more >>>
