On Nov. 20 from 6:30-8:00 p.m., The State Botanical Garden of Georgia will host an event called "Healthy Cooking for the Family" with Patricia Moore-Pastides. Patricia will give a presentation based on her new book, Greek Revival From the Garden: Growing and Cooking for Life, and food at the event will come from recipes in the book. This unique gardening and cookbook inspires families to participate in the rewarding approach of a garden to table experience with food. Designed for the young and beginning gardener and cook (though equally appealing to those more experienced) Greek Revival from the Garden begins with a section titled "Why Food Choice Matters," advances to simple instructions on organic vegetable gardening, and ends with 50 recipes based on the Mediterranean way of eating. The recipes, guaranteed to appeal even to those who never knew they could relish vegetables, emphasizes the gardener's bounty and are organized according to specific vegetables and herbs. The book also showcases each recipe with authentic and tempting photographs.
Slow Food Greater Athens will provide tastes of food cooked from recipes in the book. And to inspire holiday shopping, the Garden gift shop will be open for the evening and Patricia will be signing books after her talk. Come gather at the Garden for a relaxing, inspiring, enjoyable evening.
