The Lithuanian cellist David Geringas belongs to today's musical elite, and his intellectual rigor, stylistic versatility, melodic feeling, and sensuous tone have brought him praise the world over. A student of Mstislav Rostropovich at the Moscow Conservatory, he captured international headlines when he won the Gold Medal at the Tchaikovsky Competition in 1970. During his illustrious career he has appeared as a soloist with the world's most distinguished orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Geringas is joined by Ian Fountain, winner of the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Masters Competition, for an evening of music making of the highest order in the intimacy of Ramsey Concert Hall.
