"Le concept du bigidi: réponse d’une interculturalité forcée," Lénablou. Lecture to be in French. Lénablou is a choreographer, scholar and activist known for her innovative promotion of Caribbean performance cultures through her Techni’Ka dance technique. Lénablou also will give an open master class at 1:25 p.m. in Room 352 of the Fine Arts Building and a dance performance at 8 p.m. in the Dance Building.Based in Guadeloupe, her dance company, TRILOGIE, has toured across the world giving performances in Senegal, Niger, Slovenia, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, French Guiana, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago and France. In 2008, Lénablou was honored with the highest National Order decoration in France: the Chevalier de la légion d’honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honor). She will visit UGA with six of her dancers to hold various public events. This lecture will focus on her creative method.Lénablou’s visit is organized in partnership with Georgia State University.
