Wild edible plants are numerous, bountiful and—usually—free. This course begins with a walk through the trail system at the garden identifying foods in the wild. During the afternoon, participants will focus on how to prepare simple yet delicious dishes with these foods. Participants also will consider the few truly "dangerous" plants to avoid.Bring a camera and notepad to record identification. This workshop is good for beginners or more experienced gatherers, covering at least a couple dozen species and will include discussions of sustainable harvesting techniques, the ethics of foraging, issues surrounding pollution and safety and how to encourage these plants into a yard and garden. Dress comfortably for an extended walk.
