FALL HONEY TASTING AND MEDITATION RETREAT FOR THE EQUINOXwith an earthy lunchSaturday, September 7 10-3 $35 and a jar of honey
The taste of fall is sweet honey and gathered grain. A full garden ready to be stored up for winter. A kitchen of blackberry jam and apple butter. And the work of late summer - early fall - in the Celtic and other indigenous traditions, is earth. The Earth is groaning with abundance, a full garden and a good harvest. She is wisdom, and knowledge gained from experience. She is fruitful and full. She lends stability to us, and a satisfaction of a job well done. For our quarterly meditation retreat at the Hermitage, we have teachings on this third and Western direction of the Celtic four directions - and we can't leave out talking about Hildegard here - her feast day is coming soon. Each teaching will be followed by a meditation - seated and walking, and free time for walking the labyrinth or down our country road. We will serve a lovely Earth-centered lunch for you to enjoy outside by the lake, river or under our giant Oak trees, and hanging out with the animals, our very best teachers. Throughout the day we will consider all the ways of the Earth Element and how it is expressed now, in the fall of the year, along with excesses and deficiences. We will finish the day with tea and a fun tasting of many kinds of honey - local, raw, imported, exotic, medicinal - on real Southern biscuits and scones fresh from the oven. AND - YOU BRING A JAR OF HONEY TO SHARE!
