Floating Action is the sound of the space between worlds...it is still sunny out but you can also see the moon. " - Jim James, My Morning Jacket Floating Action is Seth Kauffman, a red bearded Blue Ridge mountain-biking brother who has made five records on which he writes, records and plays all the instruments himself. The music of Floating Action reflects the relativity and natural laws gleaned from immersion in Kauffman's abundant outdoor activities, as well as a high standard for originality and overall quality. Seth is a pro-level mountain biker and snowboarder who longboards, hikes and spends way too much time on trails in the mountains. Jim James became such a fan of Seth's previous record Desert Etiquette - an album he calls "a relatively unknown masterwork of our times" -- that he decided to release 2012's slow-burn ripper Fake Blood on his own imprint, Removador Recordings & Solutions, in conjunction with Harvest Recordings of Asheville. The live incarnation of Floating Action is a rambunctious affair featuring some of Asheville's finest players: Evan Martin (drum kit 1), Josh Carpenter (drum kit 2), Brian Landrum (guitar/keys) & Mark Capon (bass). Members of this crew have spent much of the past decade on stage with acts such as Generationals, Shannon Whitworth, Rodriguez, Dr. Dog, Tyler Ramsey & many more. Floating Action has previously toured with Band of Horses, Dr. Dog, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Delta Spirit as well as a select date this past December supporting My Morning Jacket. Toddlers
Toddlers began with singer Nathan Toben writing songs alone in the vein of contemporary crooner eccentrics Scott Walker and Roy Orbison. In the last year, the band has grown in number and vision to include Noah Dehmer on drums, Ellis Anderson on bass and Missy Thangs on keys. Together, their hearts weave ribbons of song, placing familiar traditions of the past into contemporary, even harsh contexts, with elements of post-punk, electronic, nightwalker drag rock, or pop noir. Toddlers recorded their debut full-length album in September 2012 with Mitch Easter (wiki / allmusic). Mixed by Nicolas Vernhes (allmusic) in November and December, the album is due for release in Spring 2013. Lonnie Walker
Originally a one-man band, Lonnie Walker evolved from the solo spirit of Brian Corum into a collection of friends bound by their shared passion for music and visual art. After years of honing their sound while playing house shows and DIY spaces in Greenville, NC- Lonnie Walker garnered local support from classmates and peers immediately. Through the additions of Eric Hill, Justin Flythe, Raymond Finn, and Josh Bridgers; Lonnie Walker's music has evolved through their many ever-sharpening performances.
