Speaker: William A. Schabas, an internationally respected expert on human rights law, genocide and the death penalty.Schabas’ lecture will address the association between human rights, culture and the arts. It will also reflect upon the aspirational dimension of culture and the arts as espoused by 19th century British poet and critic Matthew Arnold, including the concern that this may be an elitist vision ill suited to the egalitarianism of modern human rights.News release: http://news.uga.edu/releases/article/human-rights-expert-william-schabas-to-speak-at-uga-school-of-law/
