On March 21st, concert-goers have a unique opportunity to see both sides of the musical journey that most artists dream of. The Melting Point will play host to a show featuring Michelle Malone, and Callaghan – who each show us what we love most about music and performance. In Michelle, we see an artist that has risen above the turbulence and uncertainty of beginning careers, and has risen to the top, garnering numerous awards, spots on Grammy ballots, and kind words from countless national press outlets. Sharing the bill with Michelle is Callaghan, who just two years ago took the leap of faith that every artist must decide to take if they want to get to the next level. Leaving the comforts of home, she flew across an ocean to the United States to record her album, and from there she has seen a growing momentum of praise and success. Join us at The Melting Point for a perfect evening that pairs both established, and up-and-coming talent in an intimate, warm setting.
Callaghan’s debut album, Life In Full Colour, released on May 1st 2012. The release is the culmination of a journey which brought the singer-songwriter across the Atlantic from London to live and record in the USA.
A long-time Shawn Mullins fan, Callaghan contacted the Atlanta singer-songwriter through MySpace, and after being knocked out by her music he agreed to a rare collaboration. Callaghan left her London digs and boarded a plane headed for the American South: the experience was the inspiration for the opening track and first single from her album, Best Year.
Life in Full Colour was tracked in and around Atlanta with Mullins both producing and playing on the record. Its 12 songs present Callaghan’s eclectic and dynamic style, combining shades of folk, country, rock and pop into a seamless fusion of feeling and melody.
Performing live Callaghan plays piano and guitar and delivers a vocal which earns frequent comparisons with artists like Sarah McLachlan and Emmy Lou Harris. Her songs chronicle stories and moments from her own life and from others. You’ll enjoy thoughtful lyrics, haunting vocals, and catchy melodies which make you smile.
Since making Georgia her home, Callaghan has been selling out shows at local venues and in summer 2012 Insite Atlanta’s music edition labelled her ‘Atlanta’s hottest new act’ . She’s also performed across 25 states, including at SXSW.
Life in Full Colour has been getting a great reaction. The Huffington Post describes the album as “joyful listening”, while InLiveMusic says “Callaghan’s voice is stunning, clear and is perfect for the story telling of her songs”

WELL.... I was born and raised in Atlanta by musician parents with whom I toured in the summers. I dropped out of highschool at 16, lived in the streets and lived dangerously while developing some nasty habits. I got clean, went back to highschool and became the valdictorian for a small class. I went to Agnes Scott College with dreams of becoming a doctor...then I got a record deal with Arista. All i've done for a living since then is play music - I'm working on my 10th CD now. I ran the Paris marathon for Leukemia Society. I rode my bike with Team Earth Challenge from Atlanta to Yucca Mountain, NV in protest of the nuclear waste dumping there. Now I just try to recycle and make inspirational music. Oh, and I was on the Grammy ballot recently. I love good music. I love good people. I love good food and wine. I have lived through addiction and I am no longer over indulgent! I grew up quite late in life....must be a musician thang... I finally learned to love myself and now i love life, too! I try to always see the glass half full. I think you create your own reality via your thoughts. I've always tried to do the right thing, make organic honest music, and be myself. I have not always succeeded, but I get better at this life thing everyday. After 3 decades in Atlanta, a few years in Boulder, and a minute in Nashville, I now live in Decatur, Alabama. It's a beautiful little town! I have 2 cats, the incredible Big Red , and an amazing life. more >>> General Admission $10/$13 day of show
