Coverdell Center for Biomedical and Health Sciences Room 175 Sponsored by: Biomedical and Health Sciences Institute Contact: Rebecca Ayer PR Coordinator 706-542-1016  "Map Apps and Historical Epidemics: The Great Smallpox Outbreak of the American Revolution," UGA historians Claudio Saunt and Stephen Berry examine the significant historical effects of the North American smallpox epidemic that coincided with the American Revolution from 1775 to 1782. Claudio Saunt is the Richard B. Russell Professor in American History, the Co-Director of the Center for Virtual History, and the Associate Director of the Institute of Native American Studies at the University of Georgia. Dr. Saunt is the author of two award-winning books on Southeastern Indians and of multiple articles published in leading history journals. He has been working in spatial history for the last several years.Stephen Berry is the Amanda and Greg Gregory Professor of the Civil War Era, the Co-Director of the Center for Virtual History, and the Associate Director for External Grants at the Willson Center. He is the author of multiple books on America in the Civil War Era, including House of Abraham: Lincoln & the Todds, A Family Divided by War (Houghton Mifflin, 2007) and All That Makes a Man: Love and Ambition in the Civil War South (Oxford, 2003).  The One Health at UGA Lectures Series aims to efforts at UGA and the Southeast focused on interdisciplinary teaching and learning, research, and outreach at the nexus of human, animal and ecological health.  It is supported by the BHSI Division of One Health.  BHSI Division of One Health
