The Classic Center will host a free community open house on Saturday, Feb. 16 from 2-6 p.m. to celebrate the grand opening of our $24 million expansion. It will feature musical and theatrical entertainment for all ages. From 2-4 p.m., join us in the new atrium for live entertainment and family activities. There also will be a ribbon cutting, and the new public art installation by St. Louis-based artist Maureen Kelly will be unveiled. From 4-6 p.m., the party will move into the Grand Hall for performances by the Athens Symphony Orchestra's Woodwind Ensemble Quintet and the New Columbian Brass Band, a 23-piece ensemble that performs the music of the Golden Age of American Bands (1880 to 1920). The band’s conductor and co-founder is George C. Foreman, director of UGA Performing Arts Center.
