You are cordially invited to join us for an evening of legendary musicianship. Supporting them will be the high-energy act Blonde Blues! Matt Joiner is one of the most admired up-and-coming guitarists in and around Athens, Georgia. Born June 18th, 1982 in Athens - a place known as much for its historic, rich, and electric music scene as it is for its largest resident: The University of Georgia, Matt began taking an interest in the guitar at an early age. It wasn’t, however, until he first saw a VH1 Legends special on Stevie Ray Vaughan at age 14 that his passion really caught fire. A self-taught guitarist, Matt has been exposed to a number of other great influences including guitar greats Joe Bonamassa, Eric Johnson, B.B. King, Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck among others. These legends of guitar have influenced and shaped the sound that Matt calls his own. Over the last 12 years, Matt has showcased his talents in many ways, including contributing to the Christian group Souls Forgiven and the classic rock cover band Assfault and has been invited onstage by Kevn Kinney to join Drivin’n’Cryin during their encore set at the 40 Watt Club in Athens. Matt is also an active contributing writer for The Rattlers(www.therattlersband.com), and they have performed with a variety of bands, ranging from local favorites to nationally known artists. He has subbed in for guitarists in other local bands and can play a wide range of music, but he enjoys playing the blues the most and dreams of playing on the road. His guitar playing can also be heard in radio commercials for an assortment of businesses and industries. In 2010, Matt reached out to Clay Hinson (Bass) and Woody Hughes(Drums) and started working on his solo career. Music of choice for the group was straight forward Blues/Rock. Playing their first show in June of 2010 at Mikes Down Under in Jefferson, Ga to a packed house. While recent shows have taken Matt to such locations as Nashville, Atlanta, Savannah, Columbus, Macon, Warner Robins, Birmingham and Charleston, Matt still feels privileged to call Athens his home.
