12:20 pm Geography and Geology 325 Contact: Na Hyung Choi Brown Bag Coordinator Paleontological field guide William McLane will talk about his experiences in excavating fossils in the American Midwest and how to start fossil hunting with PaleoProspectors. Many fossils will be on display, with some possible giveaways.  Sack lunch friendly event; hosted by Geology Club.Over the past nine years, William McLane has worked as a paleontological field guide leading participants and students throughout the American Midwest collecting and excavating fossils. He will talk about Paleo Prospectors, a unique opportunity to gain experience collecting and excavating fossils. Participants keep most of the fossils they find, with all articulated and scientifically significant specimen going to museums and academic institutions. Students can receive class credit by taking a special topics class in paleo archeology. William will be bringing lots of fossils and may even have some to give away. This is a part of the Brown Bag Talk series. Paleo Prospectors, Geology Club at UGA
